  • Class 8: The stepping stone to class 9

Class 8 is a very important grade for the students because it forms the base for Class 9 that is the first year of high school. The syllabus of all the subjects increases from the previous class that is Class 7. It is very important to do well in Class 8 because this gain in confidence will most definitely help to do well in the higher classes and hence help in securing a successful future. The students need to work harder in order to cope up with the increasing study load.

  • Mathematics of Class 8

The mathematics curriculum has some interesting as well as some tough chapters that the students are expected to study. Some of the chapters included are mensuration, comparing quantities, etc. The students should follow their NCERT textbook to study all the concepts. They must ensure that they solve every question given without any fail. They must also be sure that they have understood everything to the best possible extent in order to give the best performance in the examinations.

  • Understanding what a study plan is

A study plan is an organized schedule that describes study times and learning objectives. As with work or school schedules, students of Class 8 should develop a schedule that allows time each week to study. This schedule should include dates for quizzes, tests, and exams, and deadlines for assignments, homeworks and projects.

  • Importance of managing time

Time management is really challenging. In addition to teaching, you will likely have other responsibilities, such as extracurricular activities, work, and social involvement. Creating a study plan helps you see how your time is being spent and makes sure you have enough time outside of class to do homework, study for tests, and review and revise the information you are learning.

  • Steps to make a proper study schedule
  • Take a look at your current learning habits and style – think about what works for you and what doesn’t. Can you study for longer chunks of time once or twice a week, or is it more effective if you study for thirty minutes every night? Is a student most productive at a certain time of day? Are you better at conserving your material  if you study a topic immediately after class, or do you need a break first? The answers to all these questions should be and can be figured out by the students themselves only. The answers to these questions will help the students in making an effective timetable in order to perform well.
  • The students are well aware of the syllabus and their weak topics and chapters, so they should try to work harder on those chapters or topics to make them stronger. They must mark these chapters and give the necessary amount of time to each chapter as well as their revision. They should also give enough time to other subjects as well.
  • The students should make daily, weekly as well as monthly goals. They should understand that both short term and long term goals are equally important in order to do well in the academic year. The short term goals help in accomplishing  a sense of daily achievement in the students.

The long term goals can be really helpful in practising and being consistent.

  • As you set your learning goals for each subject, you can determine how long you will need to study. At the beginning of the semester, think about what you want to accomplish in each class. For example, a particular student might find exercise number 8.1 difficult, in order to make it easier he or she can practise from RS Aggarwal Class 8 Maths Chapter 8 Exercise 8.1.  You may want to master a particular skill or improve your grade. These are general goals that should motivate you throughout the semester. Then, at the beginning of each week, determine why you need to study and what you want to accomplish in each unit. Are you preparing for an important exam? Does a job have to be turned in? Can you read a chapter ahead of time to prepare for the next courses? Adjusting your study schedule as needed to meet your weekly goals and get the most out of each unit of study will help in getting a better result.
  •  While it is tempting to skip the session when there is no exam, shorten your preparation time for the future exam by reading ahead and preparing for lectures.
  • Making sure to follow the schedule

A curriculum works best when it is followed consistently. You should try to develop a curriculum that you can follow during each term. You will need to adjust your plan as needed as you find newer topics that you find difficult.. Remember, the most important thing is to stick to your study plan diligently.

  • Finding a study partner for better performance

Some students find it helpful to study with a partner as it offers responsibility as well as opportunities for discussion and collaboration. As you plan your study plan, check in with other classmates to see if you can coordinate study sessions. However, if you have a tendency to socialize rather than learn when you are with others, stick to an independent study plan. If you have a study buddy, make sure it’s someone you’re likely to stay with at work.

  • Understanding the importance of taking breaks

If your schedule includes long study hours, take short breaks every now and then to stretch, hydrate, and rest your mind. This will keep your brain cool and help you avoid feeling overwhelmed.

  • Importance of keeping time for activities other than studying

When you achieve a balanced schedule, your mind becomes more receptive during your study time. If he schedules several long study days in a row, he becomes discouraged and  tempted to give up. It is recommended that you make time for non-academic activities such as sports, hobbies, and socializing with other students.

  • The key to success: Consistency

Mathematics as a subject needs consistency and hard work. Students should work hard to ensure that they are consistent throughout the year in order to achieve great results.
