If you’re an animal lover, then it’s natural to want to incorporate this into a hobby you’ll love. As long as you’re spending time with animals, there’s no doubt that any hobby is going to have the potential to become your new favorite thing. Animals can improve your mood and make you happy, but animal-related hobbies can also provide a valuable opportunity to learn new skills and get out in nature.

Dog Walking and Dog Sitting

If you’re an animal lover, then dogs are probably at the very top of your list. It may be that you love dogs enough to walk your own but also want to walk as many as possible; or, maybe you’re not in a position to commit to having your own dog but would love to spend time with them as a hobby.

Dog walking is a fantastic hobby because it’s a simple exercise for you while spending time with a furry best friend. Dog sitting is also great to help out those in need who need their dog to be looked after for longer.

You can even turn walking and sitting into a paying side hustle if the opportunity is there.

Volunteering at a Kennel or Cattery

You may be able to walk dogs if you volunteer at the right places, too, but this will also allow you to help out great causes with caring for the kennel and cattery needs of lots of animals. You can spend time with cats as well as dogs and provide an important service while being able to spend time with adorable animals who need your help.

Horseback Riding

Not only is this a great pastime for exploring nature, but it’s also a good one if you want to develop a skillset and maybe even take part in a competition or two. Horseback riding is a must if you love horses and would love to explore exciting trails or locations out in nature. Caring for a horse, such as grooming, can also help you bond with the animals.

Bird Watching

This is a great one for animal lovers who also want to slow down and live in the moment. Bird watching is a very peaceful and slow pastime that allows you to enjoy nature while photographing or watching a whole variety of birds in their natural habitat. Wildlife Photography

A great one if you’re already an avid photographer but haven’t yet tried animal or wildlife photography. Alternatively, it’s the perfect hobby if you’d like to get into photography and want the perfect subject matter! Wildlife photography can be exciting and see you visiting lots of interesting places — and seeing lots of interesting animals.

Beekeeping

As an animal lover, you may not have thought of bees first, but beekeeping is a very rewarding hobby in many different ways. Not only do you get to care for and observe the society of bees and their impressive abilities, but you can also reap the rewards of honey at the end of it!
